Profit from Green Building

Unbeknownst to most of us, the construction and habitation of commercial and residential buildings has a huge impact on the environment that costs human society billions of dollars unnecessarily each year. Modern buildings also profoundly affect the bottom line, costing us much more than they need to operate.

Green building seeks ways to create durable, healthy, comfortable, and low-maintenance buildings that are affordable to build and highly economical to operate, saving tens of thousands of dollars over their lifetime in maintenance and conditioning.

In this talk, Dr. Chiras, a leading expert on residential renewable energy, energy efficiency, and green building, will explore what green building is, how one goes about "building green," and the many social, economic, and environmental benefits we gain from this approach. You'll learn how we can profit from a host of simple, practical, and affordable green building materials, techniques, and technologies. We'll view many examples and explore many financial incentives.

Dan Chiras, Ph.D.  is Director of The Evergreen Institute and President of the consulting firm, Sustainable Systems Design, Inc.
